WarnerMedia streaming service has ordered a Dune TV show to accompany the latest movie adaptation.

Dune: The Sisterhood will focus on the Bene Gesserit, a mysterious order of women at the heart of Frank Herbert’s saga. Dennis Villeneuve, who is directing the movie, will helm the pilot episode and be one of the executive producers. Jon Spaihts, currently co-writing the feature film, will pen the pilot.

“The Bene Gesserit have always been fascinating to me. Focusing a series around that powerful order of women seemed not only relevant and inspiring but a dynamic setting for the television series,” Villeneuve explained.

The movie is due for release in November 2020; no date has been given for the TV show.
