Stephen King’s 2006 novel Lisey’s Story is coming to Apple in an eight part limited series penned by King himself.

Julianne Moore will star as Lisey, a widow who learns various unexpected things about her husband two years after his death. The series comes from Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television, and will be King’s third series with Bad Robot following 11.22.63 and Castle Rock.

King himself told Variety in 2017 that the story was his favourite and that he hoped it would be adapted by a streaming service. “There’s more freedom to do stuff now and when you do a movie from a book, there’s this thing that I call the sitting on a suitcase syndrome. That is where you try to pack in all the clothes at once and the suitcase won’t close. So it’s tough to take a book that is fully textured, and do it in two hours and 10 minutes. But as a TV show you have 10 hours.”
