Legion will be wrapping up on FX, but it may not be the end of the story.
FX confirmed at the TCAs that the X-Men universe story would conclude with its third season which launches in June. “Endings are what gives stories meaning,” showrunner Noah Hawley explained. “It felt like three acts of a story – this felt like natural place to end it.”
However, Jeph Loeb, in charge of Marvel TV, noted: “From Marvel’s point of view, Noah told us the end of the story when he told us the beginning of the story. These characters, some of which are part of the Marvel library, will live on. I think of it as if this is the end of this graphic novel. If Noah came back to us in a day or a year, we hope that FX would want to tell the next story.”
The entire future of the X-Men franchise is in for changes following the Fox/Disney merger, with rumours that the New Mutants movie may end up on a streaming channel, rather than being released theatrically.
