In addition to the prestigious BBC production of H G Wells’ The War of the Worlds, adapted by Peter Harness, Urban Myth TV has announced a new reimagining, created by Misfits’ Howard Overman.

This version will be set in contemporary Europe and star Gabriel Byrne and Elizabeth McGovern alongside Léa Drucker, Natasha Little, Daisy Edgar Jones, Stéphane Caillard, Adel Bencherif and Guillaume Gouix. Gilles Coulier and  Richard Clark will each direct four episodes of the eight one-hour instalments.  The reimagining will follow the pockets of humanity left on Earth following an apocalyptic extra-terrestrial strike.

The BBC version was originally due for release last Christmas; it stars Rafe Spall and Eleanor Tomlinson. Sci-Fi Bulletin visited the set and a report will follow nearer transmission.
