“I really can’t wait to step back in and get to work again,” Jodie Whittaker has told The Hollywood Reporter, once and for all scotching rumours that she would regenerate in the New Year’s Day special.
“It’s such an incredible role. It’s been an extraordinary journey so far and I’m not quite ready to hand it over yet,” she added.
Filming on series 12 is set to begin in the new year, with BBC Studios confirming last month to Starburst that it would air in 2019. (NB This has been superseded by events – the BBC has announced that Series 12 will air in early 2020.) The latest batch of rumours suggests that the Daleks will be making their debut against the 13th Doctor in the special.
