A cinematic version of Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu, is in pre-production.
Chinese-American writer Dave Callahan is writing the script – he’s a co-writer of the Wonder Woman sequel and is working on the second Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse movie – based on the character created by Steve Englehardt and Jim Starlin back in 1973, part of a wave of Kung Fu characters in various media. Originally linked heavily to the Fu Manchu mythos, the character has appeared in various guises over the past forty-five years.
Marvel are searching for an Asian or American-Asian director for the film.
