American screenwriter Gloria Katz has died at the age of 76.

She worked with her husband Willard Huyck on numerous screenplays, including George Lucas’ American Graffiti, and uncredited rewrites on the first Star Wars film, for which she said they contributed around 30 percent of the dialogue, in particular strengthening the character of Princess Leia.

Their relationship with Lucas continued, providing the screenplay for the second Indiana Jones, The Temple of Doom, as well as the less than well-received Howard the Duck, and Mel Smith’s Radioland Murders.
