Acclaimed Hollywood screenwriter William Goldman – amongst whose screenplays were The Stepford Wives and Misery – has died, aged 87.
Goldman won Oscars for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and All the President’s Men, and wrote the book Adventures in the Screen Trade, coining the phrase “nobody knows anything” about Hollywood. He wrote the book and then the movie version of The Princess Bride, as well as Marathon Man and Magic.
