Iron Fist has become the third Marvel Cinematic Universe – and the first on Netflix – to be cancelled.

The news came shortly before Daredevil’s third season is released on Friday 19 October.

“Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix,” Marvel and Netflix announced. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners,” Marvel and Netflix added. “We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.” It is possible that further adventures for Finn Jones’ incarnation could appear on Disney’s new streaming service alongside other Marvel shows, or as a guest character alongside Mike Colter’s Luke Cage.

Agent Carter and The Inhumans were previously both cancelled by ABC.
