Seth MacFarlane’s love letter to the Star Trek franchise, The Orville, has completed its first successful mission – and we’ve got a set of the DVDs to prove it.

Having previously re-imagined the Star Wars saga through the lens of his hit comedy Family Guy, MacFarlane confidently showcases his admiration of sci-fi classics like Star Trek with a comedy drama that carves its own creative identity as both a homage to its forefathers, and hilarious parody. As Captain Ed Mercer pilots the exploration ship the USS Orville, joined by his first officer ex-wife (Adrianne Palicki) and an intergalactic crew, he grapples with everything from a planet-absorbing space anomaly to an overly amorous, gelatinous engineer (Norm MacDonald). The brilliant ensemble cast includes Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon and Halston Sage.
