Len Wiseman will be directing the opening episode of the new Swamp Thing series, heading to the DC Universe channel next year.

The new version follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe. The pilot is written by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman.

This will be the second live-action TV incarnation of the character created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson; Dick Durock reprised the character he’d played in two movies for the show which ran from 1990-1993.
