“My goal is that there should be a Star Trek something on all the time on All Access,” CBS’ David Stapf has told Deadline. “We know it draws an audience, and Discovery has done quite well.”
“We’re looking at limited series for some Trek shows and we are looking at ongoing series for some other Trek shows,” EVP Original Content Julie McNamara. added. “We’ve obviously announced the one that’s coming next with Sir Patrick Stewart but we have more in development there.”
There’s no guarantee that the new Stewart series will turn up internationally on Netflix – there’s a difference in the deal between spin-offs of Discovery (such as the Short Treks) and a new series, such as this. The executives did confirm that they are not looking at reviving any other branch of the franchise. The full interview can be read here.
