It seems as if Amazon will step in to The Expanse after Syfy in the US failed to pick up the series earlier this month.

Syfy only had broadcast rights in the US to the series – which runs on Amazon for streaming and digitally States-side – and the series underperformed for them. Alcon Entertainment, who fully finance and produce the series, promised to look for a new partner, and Amazon taking on the full US domestic rights would appear to be a good fit. There’s no word, however, whether this will affect other deals for the series, which is streamed by Netflix in the majority of the rest of the world.

Although many fans are hailing this as a done deal, it’s yet to be confirmed by Alcon or Amazon Studios.
