Cops and Monsters, the on-going supernatural police thriller set in a near future Scotland, is heading into its second season.
Created by 34-year old screenwriter and indie film producer Fraser Coull, the series follows the Paranormal Investigation Team Scotland (PITS) as they police and protect the supernatural community in a near future Scotland.
Moving ahead with series 2 the team have secured Debbie Moon (BAFTA winning Wolfblood creator), Philip Lawrence (Big Finish) and Simon Underwood (Wolfblood) to join James T Harding (Broadway Baby), Laura Anne Anderson (BAFTA winning team member of CBeebie’s OOglies) and series creator Fraser Coull to pen 6 x 20 minute episodes, which will stream directly on Amazon Prime UK, US and Amazon Instant Video.
The team are running a Kickstarter until May 5th to raise funds to shoot the brand new series, which will consist of 6 x 20 minute episodes, focusing on a “story of the week”.
Series 2 starts with former PITS officer Maya Hedges (Ellen Patterson) finds herself working for the S.P.I.D.E.R.S (SuPernatural Identification Executive Regiment Scotland) who take over all supernatural operations at the end of series 1. Maya is partnered with no-nonsense SPIDERS squaddie Colin Bissett, forced to work together on assigned cases. However Maya is also secretly working under cover with wanted werewolf Alexis Smith (Innes Anderson) as they both try to undo any damage that the SPIDERS may cause to the supernatural community.
The Cops and Monsters team have set a goal of £5,000 in order to at least be able to shoot episode 1, “Remembrance”, which is written by Debbie Moon. The team have been in touch with the likes of Katy Manning (Jo Grant, Doctor Who), Les Dennis (Family Fortunes, Coronation Street) and even Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth (Wicked, Glee) to take a guest starring role in future episodes.
Perks available on the Kickstarter campaign include the chance to be an Associate Producer of the show, signed scripts, DVDs, blu-rays, walk on roles as a vampire, werewolf or zombie, posters, t-shirts, mugs and more.
