Although she turned down the chance to direct Black Panther, A Wrinkle in Time’s Ava DuVernay is sticking with a Jack Kirby creation for her next project, based on Kirby’s The New Gods.

DuVernay confirmed the news with a tweet praising the legendary comics writer and artist:

The New Gods was the first part of Kirby’s Fourth World saga which began in the pages of Jimmy Olsen in 1970 and spread across the DC universe, introducing key characters including Darkseid to the company.
