Four stories from the new era of Doctor Who are getting the Target Books treatment this April, alongside the first ever adaptation for Target of a Douglas Adams script.
Russell T Davies has adapted his own script for Rose, and Steven Moffat has written The Day of the Doctor based on his own 50th anniversary tale. Jenny T. Colgan has written The Christmas Invasion, and Paul Cornell has penned Twice Upon a Time. James Goss has also reworked his adaptation of Adams’ City of Death for the Target format.
Jenny Colgan told Sci-Fi Bulletin, “We didn’t have a lot of money for books as a kid, so I had to rush into the library every Saturday morning and see if there were any new Targets – they had their own shelf. I think I borrowed Brain of Morbius about 20 times. The fact that the first Target I have ever owned, I wrote, makes me hug myself with joy.”
Paul Cornell added, “I’m delighted to be revealing to the world a ton of unseen story from Twice, including an original poem by Steven Moffat.”
The books are published on 5 April, price £6.99. All five authors will be signing at Forbidden Planet on April 13: click here for details.
Great news. Though the traditionalist in me is disappointed by the lack of Terrance Dicks.
He is in his 80s now…. I think he’s served his time at the word mines!
