Science fiction and fantasy plays were recognised at the 2018 BBC Audio Awards, given on January 28, with commendations for many of the shortlisted dramas, and success for two BBC productions.
Marc Beeby’s production of War of the Worlds, which used the H G Wells text as its starting point, won Best Use of Sound, with Kafka’s Metamorphosis, one of the Dangerous Visions plays commended in that category. BBC Radio North’s A Clockwork Orange won Best Adaptation.
Commendations also went to Dangerous Visions: Culture for Best Single Drama and to Sir John Hurt for his performance in Big Finish’s The Invisible Man.
