Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper, Ianto Jones, Owen Harper and Toshiko Sato are reunited for the first time in ten years, in a new full-cast audio drama from Big Finish Productions, Believe, coming this April.
This is the first adventure for the full Torchwood team since 2008 in which the Church of the Outsiders believe that mankind is about to evolve, to reach out into the stars. Owen Harper believes that Torchwood has to do whatever it takes to stop them.
“Torchwood has been made up of many people over the years, the Fleetwood Mac of Earth defence, but the chance to write for the full series one and two team was something nobody could resist,” notes author Guy Adams. “It’s been ten years since Jack, Gwen, Ianto, Tosh and Owen last worked together, and coming up with something big enough – and complex enough – to need them was great fun. After all, taking down an entire religion isn’t easy. But if anyone can do it…”
Joining John Barrowman, Eve Myles, Gareth David-Lloyd, Burn Gorman and Naoko Mori is Arthur Darvill as George Layton.
Producer James Goss explained: “It’s finally happened – we’ve got all five of Torchwood back together! We couldn’t have done it without their incredible enthusiasm and patience, with them coming to us straight off planes, trains and film sets. They’re all tremendous, and tremendous fun to have in studio. Guy Adams has written a creepingly epic thriller in which Owen drives Torchwood to infiltrate a UFO cult. It’s about betrayal, horror, and little grey men.”
Director Scott Handcock added, “Over the last few years, we’ve had a blast working on Torchwood for Big Finish. Not only have we taken the story forward, but we’ve been reviving the classic team members for monthly adventures along the way! And now we have an adventure featuring all of the classic line-up from the first two television series. I won’t pretend it’s been easy – everyone’s so busy, it’s taken years of planning and waiting – but it’s a thrill to hear them all return for an epic, three-part story. And we’ve some brilliant guest stars too.”
