Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water and Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale were the only genre recipients of Golden Globe Awards at the ceremony held on January 7.
Del Toro was hailed as Best Director for his most recent film, and Alexandre Desplat won the Best Score for his compositions for the movie. Star Elisabeth Moss won Best Actress for a TV Series – Drama, and The Handmaid’s Tale was acclaimed as Best TV Series – Drama. Discussing the award, Moss noted: “We want to tell the stories that reflect our lives back at us. And also having as many women behind the camera as possible. It’s really important to us to take a part in that movement. It’s also what people want to see. Hollywood is learning that that makes money… that’s something that people are listening to.”
