The death of Trevor Baxter earlier this year brought the very popular Doctor Who spin-off featuring Jago & Litefoot to a close after 13 box sets and various specials. However, Big Finish have one final story in store for the pair introduced in 1977’s The Talons of Weng-Chiang.

“Everybody loved Trevor Baxter,” says producer David Richardson. “Everyone who worked with Trevor and Christopher Benjamin on this series said those days were the best of their lives – the studio of Jago & Litefoot was such a happy place to be and create stories. Losing Trevor was awful and we still think of him all the time. In mourning him, we also wanted to celebrate him, and bring Jago & Litefoot to a close with a very special episode.”

In Jago & Litefoot Forever, penned by Paul Morris and directed as ever by Lisa Bowerman, Henry Gordon Jago finds himself celebrating New Year’s Eve without his best friend. Where has Litefoot gone? Together with his friends Ellie (Lisa Bowerman), Quick (Conrad Asquith) and Dr Betterman (David Warner), Jago is on the trail of the missing professor – his dear friend – and it will lead to one of the strangest cases in their infernal investigations.

Also cameoing in the episode will be Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor, Louise Jameson as Leela, Jamie Newall as Aubrey and Rowena Cooper as Queen Victoria, who had all previously worked with Trevor and wanted to help bring the duo back together for one last hurrah.

“We couldn’t have Trevor with us for the recording,” continued David, “but we knew he was there with us in spirit. Also, with thanks to Trevor’s agent and his estate for their permission, he will appear in the episode courtesy of existing takes from a library of 60 days of previous studio recordings. Would Trevor have minded? Of course not – he would have absolutely relished the idea, the opportunity to give this much-cherished series the send-off it deserves.”

Jago & Litefoot Forever will be released as part of a three-disc box set including two Jago & Litefoot Short Trips (previously available on download only) and an hour long documentary and tribute to Trevor.
