Reports are circulating that Quentin Tarantino and JJ Abrams are teaming up for a new iteration of the Star Trek saga.

Deadline noted that Tarantino had come up with an idea for the franchise and Abrams was assembling a writers’ room to tackle the project. Tarantino has previously expressed his opinion that Yesterday’s Enterprise, the Star Trek: The Next Generation story, was one of the best episodes ever. The idea seems to be that Tarantino would direct the new Star Trek movie if it progresses that far. It’s unknown whether this would be a continuation of the rebooted universe or something completely separate.
