In a few days’ time we’ll be celebrating Doctor Who‘s 54th birthday, so what better time is there to revisit the first decade of the show? Koch Media have released two DVD sets today that look at that period in very different ways – and thanks to those lovely people at Witchfinder PR, we have a set of both to give away.
First up is The Doctors: The William Hartnell Years, a two disc compilation of some of the best interviews from the Myth Makers releases, featuring pieces with five of the earliest companions – William Russell (Ian Chesterton), Jacqueline Hill (Barbara Wright), Carole Ann Ford (Susan), Peter Purves (Steven) and Jackie Lane (Dodo).
That’s accompanied by The Daemons of Devil’s End, which celebrates the 1971 tale The Daemons over three discs – including the all-new drama White Witch of Devil’s End, which sees Damaris Hayman reprise her role as Olive Hawthorne, and Return to Devil’s End, the 1992 documentary that reunited the cast and crew.
To win a copy of both, just answer the following simple question:
In which story did Dodo make her first appearance?
A) The Massacre
B) The Ark
C) The War Marchines
Simply send your answer – A, B, or C – to scifibulletin@gmail.com with the subject line DODO along with your name and address and the following code (which will change regularly) 976, to arrive before 0001 on Monday November 20, 2017. This competition is only open to readers in the UK and Eire.
The William Hartnell Years and The Daemons of Devil’s End are both available now from Koch Media.
There’s a chance to meet the stars and writers of The Daemons of Devil’s End this coming Saturday, 18th November, at The Who Shop, 39-41 Barking Road, London E6 1PY: Damaris Hayman, Katy Manning, Richard Franklin and David Simeon will be signing copies of both the DVDs and the novelisation.
