Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ Watchmen will definitely be parading onto the small screen, after Damon Lindelof confirmed that HBO has ordered a pilot for an adaptation of the highly regarded graphic novel.

HBO has also ordered back-up scripts in readiness for the show to go straight into production.

Watchmen was published in 1986 and set in an alternate history at the height of the Cold War between the US and the USSR, where superheroes have been around for a long time.
