Deborah Watling, who appeared in Doctor Who opposite Patrick Troughton and Frazer Hines, has died aged 69.

Although she was best known for her work on the programme in the 1960s, Watling had a long career, appearing in The Invisible Man series in the 1950s, and in movies and TV series in the 1970s and 1980s including That’ll Be the Day and Danger UXB. She was a regular guest at Doctor Who conventions, where I had the pleasure of interviewing her on stage on a number of occasions, and returned occasionally to reprise the role of Victoria for Big Finish, including one of the Lost Stories opposite Colin Baker. According to reports in her local paper, she had a short battle with lung cancer.
