HBO’s reboot of Michael Crichton’s Westworld has been rewarded with 22 Emmy nominations, leading not just the genre field but all drama series.

Netflix’s Stranger Things wasn’t far behind, with nods in 18 categories,  and The Handmaid’s Tale receiving 13. American Horror Story: Roanoke, The Man in the High Castle and Penny Dreadful gained 4; Black Mirror and Gotham had 3; American Gods and Fear the Walking Dead 2; The Walking Dead, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Agents of SHIELD, Star Wars Rebels, The Leftovers, Sense8 and Marvel’s Luke Cage received one apiece.

Legion, to the surprise of many commentators, received none.

The three genre shows go head to head for Best Drama Series, Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (with The Handmaid’s Tale’s Ann Dows and Samira Wiley both receiving nominations); Best Directing for a Drama Series (with two separate nominations once again for The Handmaid’s Tale), Best Writing for a Drama Series, Best Casting for a Drama Series, and Best Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (for which both Sense8 and The Man in the High Castle were also nominated).
