Mad Max star Tom Hardy is donning the alien symbiote costume for Sony Pictures’ Venom.

Sony Pictures tweeted: “Tom Hardy is Eddie Brock in , the upcoming film from Sony’s Marvel Universe releasing October 5, 2018 – production starts this fall.”

Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower) are scripting Venom, based on the Marvel character, with Ruben Fleischer set to direct. The character’s first full appearance was in Amazing Spider-Man #300, from 1988.
