Geoffrey Bayldon, who played Catweazle and the Crowman in Worzel Gummidge as well as numerous other fantasy roles, has passed away aged 93.

“It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we inform you all of the passing of our beloved Geoffrey Bayldon peacefully on May 10th,” the official Catweazle fan club announced.

Bayldon had a long career in British TV and film, including appearances in the spoof 007 movie Casino Royale, Hammer’s Dracula and Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed, The Avengers, The Saint, and The House That Dripped Blood before being cast as the out of time wizard Catweazle. His later work included The Tomorrow People, Space: 1999, Doctor Who, Star Cops and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
