Star Wars Episode IX is moving away from the Christmas release date – at least according to the most recent schedules released by Disney.

The conclusion of the third trilogy will appear in cinemas on May 24, 2019 (although given the history of the saga, it won’t be a surprise if that gets pushed, particularly as the scripts have had to be rewritten completely after Carrie Fisher’s passing, as Kathleen Kennedy recently confirmed).

Indiana Jones’ fifth big screen adventure is now listed for July 10, 2020, back a year from the original announcement.

Currently 2017 will see Guardians of the Galaxy volume 2 on May 5, Pirates of the Caribbean V on May 26, Cars 3 on June 16, Thor Ragnarok on November 3 and The Last Jedi on December 15. (NB These are US release dates; UK release dates have been up to a week earlier.)

2018 has Black Panther on February 16, A Wrinkle in Time on March 19, Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, Han Solo on May 25, The Incredibles 2 on June 15, Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6, the live action Mulan on November 2, and Mary Poppins Returns on Christmas Day.

2019’s roster includes Captain Marvel on March 18, the fourth Avengers film on May 3, Star Wars Episode IX on May 24, Toy Story 4 on June 21, the live action Lion King on July 19, and Frozen 2 on November 27.

2020 has three Marvel slots – May 1, August 7 and November 6 – alongside Indiana Jones V
