There may not be a fully fledged X-Men movie on the slate for next year, but Fox has confirmed that there will be three movies set within their Marvel universe.
First up is the New Mutants movie, which will be releaed on April 13. Josh Boone’s movie is still cloaked in secrecy, but is expected to see James McAvoy reprising his role as Charles Xavier. The original team was introduced in 1982 as a younger version of The X-Men, still in training.
That’s followed on June 29 by Deadpool 2, with Ryan Reynolds returning as the wisecracking hero and Josh Brolin will be playing Cable/
The year closes with Dark Phoenix on November 2; this would seem to be a fresh version of the classic Dark Phoenix saga which was not well received when it formed part of the third X-Men movie, The Last Stand.
