Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon will headline HBO’s adaptation of the classic Ray Bradbury tale Fahrenheit 451.

Jordan will play Montag, a fireman who battles his mentor Beatty (Shannon): the twist, for those who’ve not read the novel, is that these firemen burn books, rather than prevent blazes. Ramin Bahrani will direct from a script he co-wrote with Amir Naderi.

Bradbury’s novel was released in 1953. Truffaut filmed it in 1966, and there was a BBC radio adaptation in 1982. Bradbury also adapted the story himself as a play.
