Despite comments by her brother indicating that old footage would be used, it seems definite that Carrie Fisher will not be appearing in Star Wars Episode IX.

There will be a lot of Fisher in Episode VIII (or XIII as the Hollywood Reporter mistakenly calls it!) but Kathleen Kennedy noted that “Sadly, Carrie will not be in nine.” She told ABC that they had not written the script for Episode IX before Fisher’s death, and therefore “We have regrouped. We started over again in January.”
