Jason Momoa’s Aquaman will be facing off against Dolph Lundgren in his solo movie.
Lundgren, who was the Punisher in the first movie outing for the Marvel antihero, will play King Nereus from Mera’s home kingdom of Xebel, a fearsome warrior who claims Aquaman’s friend Mera (Amber Heard) as his betrothed. Willem Dafoe will be Aquaman’s royal science advisor, Nuidis Vulko, who’s first going to be seen in Justice League, while Nicole Kidman and Temuera Morrison will play Aquaman’s parents.
Lundgren’s Nereus will appear alongside Yahya Abdul-Mateen as the iconic Aquaman villain Black Manta and Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius, alias the Ocean Master.
Aquaman starts shooting in May 2017 for a Christmas 2018 release.
