Legendary artist Bernie Wrightson has died.

The news was posted by his wife Liz on social media. “Legendary comic book artist and illustrator Bernie Wrightson has lost his long battle with brain cancer. He is survived by his wife Liz, sons John and Jeffrey, stepson Thomas, and countless friends and fans. We will have a celebration of life for him later this year.”

Wrightson was born in Maryland in 1948 and drew his first professional comic book aged just 20. He retired in January this year owing to failing health. His full obituary can be read at http://www.berniewrightson.com
