Two major SF movies are heading for the reboot treatment, according to reports in the last few hours.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. are eyeing a remake of The Matrix, although there’s no indications whether the Wachowskis, who created the franchise, will be involved in any way. Zak Penn is in the frame for writing a new treatment, Collider reports, with Michael B. Jordan as star. There’s also the possibility of extending the franchise with a Young Morpheus movie.

Meanwhile, 20th Century Fox are in discussions with J.D. Dillard to direct and co-write a new version of The Fly, Deadline reports. If Alien Covenant performs as expected, Fox may well want to capitalise on their adult horror franchises.
