Sci-Fi Bulletin: Exploring the Universes of SF, Fantasy, Horror and Spy-fi!

The CW has given a pilot order to another DC Comics-based series from Greg Berlanti.

Black Lightning was originally pitched to Fox, who passed on the show. The CW were not looking for a further superhero show, but have gone ahead with the pilot from regular contributor Berlanti and The Game’s Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim Akil.

The show centres around Jefferson Pierce, an African-American superhero who hung up his cape years ago, but with a daughter hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend — Black Lightning.
