Frain IntrudersAlthough filming is about to begin on the sixth live action Star Trek series, fans will have to wait longer to see it.

According to CBS, “This is an ambitious project; we will be flexible on a launch date if it’s best for the show. We’ve said from the beginning it’s more important to do this right than to do it fast. There is also added flexibility presenting on CBS All Access, which isn’t beholden to seasonal premieres or launch windows.”

One positive piece of news is the casting of Intruders and Gotham star James Frain as Sarek, the father of Spock – a role played by Mark Lenard in the original and animated series as well as three movies and The Next Generation, Jonathan Simpson in Star Trek V and Ben Cross in the 2009 reboot.
