sfball-banner-8The UK’s longest running not-for-profit Science Fiction convention, The SF Ball have announced that Gates McFadden (Dr. Beverly Crusher – Star Trek The Next Generation) will headline their event alongside a host of other actors from the worlds of science fiction, including cast members from Doctor Who, Game of Thrones and other Star Trek series.

The SF Ball takes place at the Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton from 3 – 5 February 2017 and all profits go to supporting the vital work of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Other guests include Terry Molloy (Davros in Doctor Who), Roger Ashton-Griffiths (Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Merlin), Ian Beattie (Alexander, The Tudors, Game of Thrones), Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones, Ripper Street, The Tudors), Larry Nemecek (Star Trek Continues) and Dave Freeman (Concept artist for the new Star Trek films) with more guests to be announced.

Each day of the classic convention includes Q&A’s, professional photography and autograph sessions with the stars, activities, challenges and art/fiction competitions, an emporium of merchandise and collectables available for sale in a large dealer’s room, a special table-top gaming room, an exhibition hall including roaming full size Daleks, life-sized, fan-built recreations of sets, replica models and displays from talented model makers not to mention several opportunities to party after each day including discos, karaoke and full interactive games on stage with Trekologist B Jones.

Friday highlights include: The Con Dance Workshop to teach your two left feet the correct routines to enjoy all the convention dances; an epic pub quiz full of geeky questions both verbal and picturesque, A Gold Ticket Cocktail Party, including a hot buffet and a generous glass of bubbly welcoming gold ticket members offering up close and personal meetings with the guests, a goody bag full of film promotional merchandise and epic three foot chocolate fountains, plus a state of the art interactive game-show called A Question of Snort. Friday concludes with a fabulous party on the theme of The Worlds of Gerry Anderson and a prize for the best fancy dress/cosplay costume will be awarded.

Saturday highlights include: a full, three-course black-tie/fancy dress dinner with live cabaret, a ‘money-can’t buy’ raffle, including incredibly unique prizes and a Game Of Thrones themed party with fancy dress/cosplay competitions, a celebrity cabaret and a late night disco with games and activities that all can enjoy.

Sunday’s highlights include: a time travel themed late night disco and Karaoke evening and another opportunity to play one of SFB’s impressive interactive audio-visual games, Geekheads!
