Carrie Fisher, renowned for her role as Princess Leia in four Star Wars films, but also celebrated as a script doctor, has died aged 60.

The news was confirmed on December 27. Fisher had suffered a heart attack while travelling from London to Los Angeles on December 23rd.

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” read a statement released to thepress.

“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly,” Lourd noted. “Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
