Greg Berlanti is behind a reboot of Little Shop of Horrors, the classic off-Broadway musical and movie based on the Roger Corman film.
Marc Platt will produce the new version, with Berlanti directing from a script by Matthew Robinson. The 1986 movie starred Rick Moranis as Seymour, a florist who discovers a “strange and unusual” plant following a solar eclipse… which needs blood to grow. Lots of blood. And we’re not talking about one hungry plant – we’re talking about world conquest.
The ending of the movie was notoriously reshot for a “happy ending” after test audiences didn’t like the idea of huge green plants destroying the world. (The original ending is now available on Blu-ray.)
