Firefly’s Ron Glass has passed away, aged 71.

“It is with a very heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my dear friend and client Ron Glass,” his agent Jeffrey Leavitt said. “Ron passed late last night of respiratory failure. Ron was a private, gentle and caring man. He was an absolute delight to watch on screen. Words cannot adequately express my sorrow,”

Best known for his role in the 1970s series Barney Miller, Glass appeared as Book in both the TV series Firefly and the spin-off movie Serenity. His other genre roles included the Devil in a 1985 episode of The Twilight Zone, as Loken in the Star Trek: Voyager episode Nightingale, and as Dr Streiten in early episodes of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.
