NBC has released a trailer for their dark reimagining of Frank L. Baum’s Oz mythos, Emerald City.
Be careful what you wish for, would seem to be the theme of the series, going by the trailer which sets up a very diffferent version of the events of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, as police officer Dorothy arrives in Oz and kills the Witch of the East. All the familiar tropes from the books and films are there, but given a dark makeover.
Emerald City stars Vincent D’Onofrio as the Wizard and Adria Arjona as Dorothy Gale. The pilot is directed by Tarsem Singh, and it starts on January 6 in the US.
