Respected character actor John Carson has died aged 89.
Born in Ceylon, Carson made his film debut in 1947, and appeared in many horror movies for Hammer and other producers, including Taste the Blood of Dracula and Captain Kronos – Vampire Hunter. He appeared with Roger Moore in The Man Who Haunted Himself, after working with Moore on four occasions on The Saint as well as Moore’s 1950 series Ivanhoe.
His other genre work included Out of This World, The Avengers, The Plague of the Zombies, Adam Adamant Lives!, The Champions, Thunderbird 6, The New Avengers, 1990, Hammer House of Horror, and Doctor Who, in which he appeared in the Peter Davison story Snakedance as Ambril.
