At the New York Comic Con fans were surprised to see Sigourney Weaver join the Marvel Netflix panel.

Supremo Jeph Loeb then confirmed that the Alien and Ghostbusters star would be playing the villain in the upcoming superhero team up series, The Defenders. “Marvel is honoured to have an actress of her calibre and status join what is already our biggest show ever!” he explained. “She is by definition a class act.”

No details of her role in the series was given at this stage. She appeared on the panel alongside her co-stars, Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and Finn Jones.
