Jerry Doyle, who played Chief Garibaldi on J Michael Straczynski’s Babylon 5, has died, aged 60.

A tweet was posted to his account around 5 pm UK time on July 28 stating: “The family of Jerry Doyle is sad to announce Jerry’s passing. The cause of death is unknown at this time.”

As well as his acting roles, Doyle was known for founding Epic Times. His first role was on Moonlighting.

Straczynski has posted a tribute at Epic Times which can be read here. He notes that Doyle was “funny, and dangerous, and loyal, and a prankster, and a pain in the ass; he was gentle and cynical and hardened and insightful and sometimes as dense as a picket fence”.
