QuatermassAccording to a report at Variety, Professor Bernard Quatermass is returning to the airwaves, thanks to BBC America.

As part of a slate of new projects in development at BBC America, Variety notes there is “a remake of the Brit series about a professor and his daughter who investigate an alien invasion, written by Jeremy Dyson for Happy Valley producer Red. StudioCanal will handle international distribution.”

The character of Quatermass was created by Nigel Kneale in 1953 for the six-part play The Quatermass Experiment. Two sequels – Quatermass II and Quatermass and the Pit – followed in the 1950s with a belated sequel, simply called Quatermass, in 1979. The first three TV serials were adapted by Hammer Films.

The League of Gentlemen’s Dyson revealed he was working on a potential new serial at an event last year.
