Orange is the New Black’s Pablo Schreiber will be playing Mad Sweeney in the TV version of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods.

Sean Harris, who was originally cast in the role and had completed a week’s filming, has had to drop out of the production for personal reasons. Described as a “down on his luck leprechaun, who is having a hard time understanding how he lost his charm and way,” Mad Sweeney is “always up for a good fight” of which he “is never deprived while in the employment of Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane).” The series is currently filming in Toronto with Bryan Fuller and Michael Green writers and showrunners.
