Superman prequel series Krypton is confirmed for launch on Syfy.
Unlike Smallville, which focused on the teen years of the Man of Steel, Krypton is set on his planet of origin two generations before its destruction. The pilot (and series if it’s picked up) will follows Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honour and save his beloved world from chaos.
The story has gone through various iterations during its progress to screen – the original story was by David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg, and the pair wrote a script. That is now being reworked by Goyer and incoming showrunner Damian Kindler. Colm McCarthy is set to direct the pilot.
