Jupiter Ascending’s Samuel Barnett will play Douglas Adams’ holistic detective Dirk Gently in the new BBC America miniseries.
Barnett is a two-time Tony Award nominee, and is part of the third season of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful. He will be appearing in the Max Landis-devised series opposite Elijah Wood. The new version features “eccentric holistic detective Dirk Gently and his reluctant assistant Todd (Wood), as they wend their way through one big, seemingly insane mystery a season, crossing unlikely paths with a bevy of wild and sometimes dangerous characters, each episode landing them a few random steps closer to uncovering the truth.”
Galaxy Quest’s Dean Parisot is directing the eight-part series, which is due to air later this year.
