SandmanJoseph Gordon-Levitt is no longer at the helm of the new movie based on Neil Gaiman’s Sandman.

“A few months ago, I came to realize that the folks at New Line and I just don’t see eye to eye on what makes Sandman special, and what a film adaptation could/should be. So unfortunately, I decided to remove myself from the project. I wish nothing but the best for the team moving forward,” Gordon-Levitt wrote on Facebook on March 5th, after explaining that the movie was now being handled by New Line rather than Warner Brothers.

New screenwriter Eric Heisserer was announced on the evening of March 4th; Gordon-Levitt’s post about his departure as director followed shortly thereafter.
