mist1Spike has given a pilot order to Dimension Television’s new version of The Mist, Stephen King’s novella about a small town covered by a small mist within which lurk monsters.

“We are thrilled to join forces with the incredibly creative Christian Torpe and Dimension Films to develop Stephen King’s enthralling novella to a compelling series unlike anything else on television,” Sharon Levy, Executive Vice President, Original Series, Spike explained.

“We are excited to be in business with Spike on their first scripted production pilot and working with the very talented Christian Torpe to further explore Stephen King’s classic novella and bring this riveting series to television audiences,” said Bob Weinstein, Co-Chairman The Weinstein Company.

The Mist was filmed by Frank Darabont in 2007, and was also adapted as a “3D audio” in 1993.
